Sometimes even good-quality thin cotton socks work well. The times I shopped in person for shoes I wore the thinnest pair of black dress socks. I'm also thinking bare legs might be a bit too casual for your workplace, and bare feet will be really uncomfortable with your shoes - think blisters, chafing, other unpleasant stuff.
